Rods interferes with Canon lens remote control

I installed rods on a HPX500 and discovered the right rod is in the way of inserting the remote lens connection on a Canon J15x8. I am wondering if
all broadcast lenses have this problem, or is it just this one.
Anyone else using rods and a remote lens controller on a HPX500?
