Rodriguez Doing Conan?

Jeez man, that was a lifetime ago. But my name was the same, Terri Hartley, and I was suggesting to them that they should have a contest of some sort for the readers, with the winners being able to go to their "headquarters" and meet the people and artists behind the mag. But the response was that it would be hard to meet the artists because they work from all over the place and send their work in through the mail for publishing. But they said it would otherwise have been a good idea. It was in 1989, though....because it was before I moved to Alabama, my daughter was born in 1988 and I moved BACK from Alabama when she was two. So my guess is that its somewhere in the issues of 1989. Late 1988 or sometime in 1989. Crap, I feel really old now.

If you find it, let me know! That would be so funny! (to me) I have never met anyone else who reads SSoC.

I think I stopped buying them around 84...I had the silly (thankfully fleeeting) notion that it was time to grow up. But I'll check anyway.

I know, I was married with a daughter, but SSoC was my bit of Peter Pan. I never lost my interest in them....just the ability to pay for them when things like diapers and food had to come first. haha!!!

SSoC

Hahaha! I still have a special place in my heart for that comic book. I frickin' LOVED the Savage Sword of Conan, and studied for a couple years to be a comic book illustrator. My favorite medium was pen and ink. Just loved that contrast, man.

I can't think of anyone who isn't already typecast or otherwise engaged who could play the new Conan role. Although Arny wasn't perfect, I thought he captured it pretty well. Hey wait; maybe the guy who played Arny in that made-for-TV movie about how Arny got to be governor!?

I have mixed emotions about RR directing a new spate of Cimmerian flicks. Robert is definately stylish in his approach, but would it be the right style? I hope he doesn't turn Conan into a Goucho...

My dad used to bring home SSoC and it got me into drawing during my middle school years.
A few years ago I saw this Alfredo Alcala exhibit and it got me thinking about all those back issues. I remember my mom throwing them all away. arrgh.
