Rodriguez Doing Conan?

Was looking for the new Fantastic Four Trailer that was unfortunately backwards with half the audio track showing during the previews before Hitchhikers. Came across this:

I sincerely hope if he directs this that they use some actual locations instead of straight green screen.

I think it would be tuff for RR to get Arnold simply because he's now our Gonvonator. He's busy so I guess RR has to find the next Conan. I wonder who it would be....

Better not be Vin Desiel..

I just hope he's a true fan. There's a wealth of possibilities in those pulp novels.

Arnie wasn't a very good pick for Conan anyway. Acting abilities (or lack thereof) notwithstanding, he doesn't look the way Conan would. The Cimmerians didn't have a Gold's Gym.

I am a huge fan of Conan....I used to have all the way back to issue #3 of Savage Sword mags. Ernie Chan's work is the best! I miss my mags. :( I would have to really think about who I thought would play the warrior best, but I do think the Rock is the frontrunner. Seems like I read something about it a long while back, and the article mentioned him in the role. Fingers crossed it will be a good flick!

Surely he wouldnt be embarassed....The world has already been privvy to seeing him "wrestle" other buff guys, slicked down in oil, wearing only a superhero speedo.

Oh no, I dont think I am going to like this , but I will keep an open mind, if I can. Just tell me that it is old and outdated as a source and I will be okay.

Yeah, I'd say that that is outdated. I think it says Rodriguez is taking over for that director in the link i posted, so don't expect that to happen.

I do like Triple H a lot, been a fan since the beginning of Degeneration X, but on camera(in films), he's just too thick, it doesn't come across well on screen - at least in Blade it didn't.

I thought he was fab in Get shorty II, or whatever it was called.

That movie is sooooooo bad. He was probably the best part of that movie, but saying that a pro wrestler pretending to be a gay bodyguard trying to get a break as an actor doing his raised eyebrow shtick every 2 minutes is the best part of a movie isn't a good thing.

I heard the HHH rumors as well. I can see it now-Thulsa Doom getting hit by a sledgehammer and going down to the PEDRIGREE(not good)!!!

Even though Arnie's term ends after this year(correct me if I'm wrong), he's too old to play the character, not too fat as someone posted. Then again, they have a digital Christopher Lee on a young Count Dooku body, and a digital Ian McDiarmid head on a young Palpatine body double, so who nows, although I doubt RR would go that route for his taste, even though he a very staunch Lucas supporter.

He could play King Conan. The best part of the first movie was the little bit at the end showing him older.

Thartley, I have a couple hundred SSoC from about 13 on. I bought them religiously in my youth. I loved Chan, but Buscema was always my man. But as long as it wasn't Gil Kane I was usually happy.

The Rock could pull it off, but Conan was leaner. Certainly muscular and strong, but more proportional to his height. Nobody appropriate come to mind, but I think of Marc Singer in the Beastmaster. Only about 6 foot 7 and slightly more muscular.

I wouldn't go see Be Cool. I read a lot of Elmore Leonard, and there was virtually nothing in the trailers that even resembled the novel.

I really like The Rock. He has tons of charisma and talent. I loved him as a wrestler and enjoy him just as much as an actor. But in my opinion having already played a Conan like role as The Scorpion King, he is automatically eliminated from contention as a new Conan.

Conan was Arnolds first big movie, before that he was relatively an unknown in acting. I'd look for a diamond in the rough, some unknown actor like the way they went for Superman.

I wrote a letter to SSoC and it was put in the Swords and Scrolls section. It was the highlight of my life up to that point. When I was younger younger younger, I spent my entire tax return on SSoC backissues. haha!!! Ok, so I didnt get that much back on my taxes, but still.....

I wrote a few as well, but none were published. Perhaps it was due to my lack of ability to form cohesive sentences. Or the fact that I was always telling them what a great artist and writer I was...

Which issue was it published in? I wanna read it.
