Rode Videomic X Travel Case ???

I called Rode -- they're not making one.

I've done quite a bit of Googling -- and I can't find one.

Obviously there's a decision to be made regarding any travel case -- is it for the mic only, the mic and the foam windscreen, the mic and the deadcat -- or all three components.

But I can't seem to find anything that is the right size for any of them -- including cases made by Pelican and Gator.

Anyone owning this mic want to share how they are protecting it during transport?

Thanks for the suggestion.

I neglected to mention it -- but I was looking for a "light duty" case with minimal cushioning and not much larger than the product itself.

Something to protect it from minor bumps and scratches, as opposed to heavier duty travel cases for location gigs.

Cheap & easy: PVC pipe from your nearest hardware/plumbing store and some foam or bubble wrap.

You could also look into storage containers like this. Could open up your possibilities.

I just got it. Planning to use a small Tupperware box packing within my bag. In the field, I am planning to carry it in a waist pouch. And when doing only audio, will put it the portabrace bag.

After spending months experimenting with various solutions, it turns out that standard plastic ammo cases are perfect for holding this microphone -- as well as a wide range of other accessories that I needed to organize.

They are cheap, lightweight and sturdy -- although obviously not in the same class as a Pelican case. And their elongated dimensions are efficient and allow the box to be packed nicely in another case, bag or backpack. This was not the case with the round kitchen-oriented storage solutions I tested (although they have the distinct advantage of being largely waterproof).

You can buy them for less than $7.00 each at Harbor Freight: Click Here or at Amazon: Click Here (at least as of this writing).

And if not those two suppliers, they are undoubtedly available at a sporting goods store near you.

I bought 11 of them and my gear is much better organized than before.

Hope that helps someone.
