Rode Videomic mounts *in* HMC150

An FYI if you haven't tried it. I lost a screw from my Videomic to its rubber band stabilizer and thought I'd try 'permanently' attaching it to my 150. I used the hardware that came with the camera and just screwed it in. No problem! It clips around the microphone part, and if you stick the battery part straight up there is still room to grab the 150 by the handle for run-n-gun.

If this is old news, hey, I just get excited about these things!

Did this since I got my cam 3 months ago:

I haven't filmed with this setup yet, but the previous setup (with the rubber band shocks) gave me a LOT of noise from the rubber bands squeaking. This new setup is also rubber, but not delicate like the rubber bands.

I had bought these originally for my tape-based Sony FX1, which is naturally noisy because of the motor. Now that I'm tapeless I doubt there will be much if any noise, and certainly no rubber bands squeaking! It's lighter too!

hi mate,

i have the exact same mic and camera so im glad you posted this info. i only got the camera a few days ago and im currently waiting for the xlr to mini jack adapter to arrive in the post so i can actually use the mic! lol

out of interest, have you got the actual foam part of the mic inside the clamp or did you push the foam up and then clamp directly to the exposed part of the mic?

and also, how do you find the sound quality............happy with it?

cheers,

scott

I had the same problem--squeaking. Replaced the small o-rings with a regular rubber band(s) and all si well--just wind the larger rubber band around so it acts as multiple o-rings. Not pretty but it works perfectly and easy to replace no matter where you are (almost)...

this may be an off topic question, but i own the HMC and the d90, and i was wondering what cover you had on that DSLR on the camera on the ground? is it some sort of rubber protector or just the lens itself? thanks in advance.
