rode...sennheiser...h4n

Hey guys. I have a h4n, and did a shoot with my brand new rode ntg-2. The audio was very low despite having the level at a decent level. It also had hiss. Just tonight I hooked up my sennheiser me-66 and while listening through headphones only, instantly noticed that they were way 'louder' then the rode. (Both were tested with phantom power on, and no batteries in the mics) Also seemed to be less hiss. Any idea why this is? I thought rode was supposed to be a great mic. Thanks for any help you can offer...

The Rode NTG-2 is a great mic, picks up everything, I use one on my HVX200 (and use the Rode VideoMic on my T2i). I would check the settings again on the H4N, it's most likely something set on/off on it, not the actual mic itself. Not saying you did anything wrong either, it's gotta be a setting issue with the H4N. Both the H4N and the NTG-2 are great products, they should play well together.

I figured that, I did a lot of research and thought these 2 items were awesome tools. But, right now I'm confused and a little disappointed. Again, the sennheiser had no problems, why the rode? I will have to experiment, or maybe somebody here has an answer, they usually do, a great place for help!
