Rode NT-5 ??

I have this older brother and he has always given me advice; sometimes good, sometimes well....... He is a very accomplished jazz musician and produces some recordings also. So we were talking about mics and I mentioned that most folks here like the Oktava for value vs performance. And HE SAID, that the Oktava was indeed good but I should consider the Rode NT-5 for similar performance vs value. I said shucks....I'll have to ask the DVXuser audio braintrust. When I searched the archives there wasn't much there about the NT-5 Remember, he is a musician with a different focus. I plan to do documentary video. He did offer to give me his matched Oktavas with the standard cardioid (not hyper) caps YAY. He gives me too much advice...but there are benefits.
Now the question: What are your feelings about the NT-5?

Thanks in advance for your comments

I use a matched pair of Rode NT5's at my church for live performance and recording purposes. Also with a pair of AKG C451B's. You know what, I can make a comparison test between the two mics. Greatfully, one of the DVXuser members here let me borrowed his Oktava MK012 bello hyper to be used on set. So I can do an A/B test.

What I will do is something similar to what the other guys here did, etc. Ty Ford.

What are your intended purposes? Booming or camera-mounted?

Thanks Alan,

Don't go to the trouble just for me. I was just curious about your impressions of the NT-5. For camera mounting, I'd probably use a shotgun. So the NT-5 or Oktavas would probably be used for dual mic interviews indoors or for performance duty.

I use the NT-5's as a more forgiving mic with inexperienced boom-ops. The cardioid pattern is wider, and there is less chance of handling noise. If my boom op knows their stuff, then it's Octavas all the way.
