Rode Lavalier+Rode Micon-5 with Zoom h4n

Hi guys,

Do you think that a Rode Lavalier with a Rode Micon-5 XLR adaptor plugged into a Zoom h4n is a good setup?

I already have the Zoom so this seems like a good and not very expensive solution. In Europe it will cost around 225€ / $321

My doubts:

Won't the cable of 1,2m be a problem to be monitoring the sound in the Zoom in a interview situation? Can i buy a longer cable or will I need a wireless system? (i really don't have the money for this)

Do you have any experience with this mic and if so do you think that the sound will be good plugged into a Zoom?

Many thanks in advance

XLR microphones can be extended with a basic microphone cable which have a female XLR on one side and a Male XLR on the other solving your distance issue very easily.

Thanks, now I see that was a really newbie question lol

And the Rode Lavalier+Zoom h4n, do you think that it will work well?

The pre-amps in the H4n aren't the best. They are vastly improved over the pre-amps in the original H4, but are still weak and are not the cleanest. I think, for what ever else you've been doing with the H4n, this will be a workable setup. And wired is usually better than wireless.

did you guys just plug the lavalier mic with the MICON5 attached into the H4N and it worked fine? I've just received one but it doesn't give me any levels whatsoever. Works using a different MICON into a H1 though so it's not the mic...

edit - +48v power. Found it :)
