i'd be curious as well - i have the zacuto piece, but had to add the right-angle adapter for my zoom control. about $400, which didn't make me very happy...
Is this what you guys are referring to ?
http://store.zacuto.com/Zephyr300.html
I have that support rod and it hasn't interfered with the zoom, focus, or any part of the stock lens in anyway.
I'm not sure if we are talking about the same thing but that is what I
believe you are referring to.
This is the cavision rod system I am using:http://www.overlandfilms.com/cavision-hpx300-15mm-x-60mm-syste3001560.html
As I said you can just squeeze the cable in:
Thanks Gary! It looks like you have the rods slid all the way down. Could be a problem with a RRM matte-box, but for that price it might be worth a shot.
Thanks for taking the time to post the picture.
Bill
I take that back... I took another look. Just might do the trick!
Thanks for chiming in... We're referring to using the electronic remote control plug that becomes blocked when a rod support, like the Zephyr300, is mounted to the 300. You would have thought those wonderful rocket scientists at Zacuto would have moved the whole thing back a little bit.
I thought you were manually adjusting the zoom, my mistake, I didn't think you were controlling it by remote.
Looking at the picture most recently posted, I can see where it would be clearly in the way of the plug for the servo.
I work at a TV station and I asked one of the engineers if he had ever seen a right angle connector for a servo controller and he said he hasn't.
He said if it was his camera that he would loosen the protective cover on the connector which would make the connector shorter before any drastic modifications.
[Ex] An XLR connector has 3 sections to it, the inner part, which is were the cables are actually sodded together and then a cover protecting those cables,
and then another protective cover protecting the bottom half of the cable which makes it hard to bend, That's one of the reasons why we have 90 degree XLR cables.
He is suggesting loosening the last part of the connector closest to the cable, which would give you a shorter connector, therefore giving you more clearance.
Its not perfect, but it should be a last resort before hacking off a piece of the support rods.
Sorry I can't come up with a better solution, I hope you find one.

Vocas makes it for the fujinon lenses - $440
it's very precise and is a piece that relatively few want or need, and is most likely fairly labor-intensive to build.
