Rocknroller/mulicart r14 opinions?

Hey homies. Looks like rocknroller/multicart released an r14 model a few years ago...longer wider and thicker steel than the r12/10.

Anyone have/used one? Mine (r12) has been problematic from the start, missed my 30 day return window on it though, so looking at the 14. Like the form factor, size, foldability etc. of the rocknrollers so magliner not really an option.

thanks.

I have one. It's OK. I'm sure the build quality is similar to the 12. It's light and does fold up pretty small which is great. I don't use it all the time but when I do, no complaints

My R8 holds over 500 lbs and extends so long it's difficult to maneuver in small hotel lobbies and it's been too long for a few elevators. Can't imagine needing anything bigger, but clearly that's just me.

Got it for my wife anyway, although I'm usually the one using it. But when she does take it out solo, she's quite happy with it too.

Oh! One thing.. exteneded it gets pretty long. It's not usually a problem but I've had situations in small elevators in NYC where I got to the elevator and couldn't fit. It's not a problem with the cart at all, just the places I rolled it. ;)

Hmm good point, although they dont even sell the 12 anymore (at least not b&h). Yeah, i sometimes carry a LOT of crap when im by myself so its a struggle finding room for it all without stacking 10 ft high. Do they make a shelf for it (like the one for the 10/12) ?

i guess i was more interested in build quality. Im familiar with the carts but apparently their qa/qc is pretty weak, looks my 12 is not a great one, wondering if any of thats improved on the 14.

oh and is there an all terrain version (i.e 4 large tires)?

What was the problem with your R12? I have two all-terrrain 12's, a 10 and have had a few other 10's in the past. The ONLY "problem" I've ever had was with the crappy casters on the "normal" versions of their carts. If you don't get the all-terrain versions, REPLACE the front casters IMMEDIATELY. They WILL fail if you carry heavy loads(I've snapped casters, broken wheel hubs and had "tires" peel off the wheels). I should also say that I load mine down beyond the rated limit a lot of times, which is part of the issue with the smaller casters failing, but it's a testament to how well the rest of the system works.

I will agree that their GC on finishing details is crap, I had to use vise grips to bend the openings on two of the three the add-on extensions that I bought, because they wouldn't fit(among other annoyances in the past), but the overall product works well.

Yes, I have the all terrain one. A couple issues with it: One not a really big deal under heavy load, but lightly or "middle-ly" loaded, one smart wheel doesn't quite touch the ground all the time, will kind of spin around crazily as I'm pushing the cart. Pretty annoying. Another issue that developed later on is that, somehow, and I am not making this up, one of the dumb wheels is softer than the other! These are no-flats/non-pneumatic tires, yet one is noticeably softer than the other, like it's deflated, and it makes the cart run really rough, adds resistance to being pushed, gets worse with heavier loads. Lastly, sometimes on turns, especially loaded down, the smart wheels tend to buckle under the cart just a little bit (instead of the vertical pin that sticks into the cart body staying perfectly straight up and down), making it wobbly, like it's threatening to topple.

I'm looking into replacing that wheel since that's the worst issue, can you get off brand wheels for it? Recommendations?

Also looking into Magliners. . .cost is much higher but it's a freakin' cart. . .you'll use it forever and it'll never be obsolete (barring the hoverboard technology that's coming out next year :-)) but those have size/weight issues for me as well.

I was wrong about not selling the R12 anymore; many places still do.

BTW, looks like they're coming out with an "R16" model Rocknroller. . .look on the Rocknroller Facebook page for a post/Youtube vid about it.
