RoboClones Industrial Video

I shot this silly little short a few months back, but have only now been able to stick it all together. It's a quick, funny little thing, written by a writer from The Onion (we shot the thing in their offices too, so if you look carefully, occassionally, you'll see their logo). The actors are all ridiculously funny people from the NPR sketch comedy show, Schadenfreude -- amazing to work with.

Shot it with the DVX, a couple of little Tota fills, and a small doorway dolly.

;D

Funny stuff. I love the soundtrack and the cheezy diagonal wipes. The dialogue is snappy. And Wilbaum's wig is classic.

Re: RoboClones Industrial Video

I LOVE the Onion. Brilliant stuff.

Wish I could see the video but 20mb is too rich for my blood! :'(

Haha, that was hilarious. I'm almost curious what this company does, simply so I know why they felt the need to horribly slaughter their workforce and replace them with incredibly life like robots.

Re: RoboClones Industrial Video

Haha. Put that alongside that old SNL commercial parody where Sam Waterson sells robot insurance to the elderly. ;D

Re: RoboClones Industrial Video

It has a Kids In The Hall feel to me. Loved it! Hilarious, well done!

Re: RoboClones Industrial Video

Hey! Glad everyone enjoyed it. It's was a fun little project to work on, and I think it's got some nice zingers in it here and there. Was just a joy to work on with the actors and with the writer, so the experience was almost worth it all by itself, even if the final product hadn't turned out well.

Re: RoboClones Industrial Video

By far my favorite 'narrative' short ever posted here. The actor really sells it, well. Great performance, and a great looking project in general. Congrats.

(You should submit it to MoviesAskew.COM, I'm sure you'd make the top 5)
