Robert McLachlan, ASC ... on the Panasonic GH1

I meant cleaner than the footage before the firmware upgrades.

And natively is running super-smooth and totally fine in Premiere, I transcode most of my stuff to DxN for long term storage, but this is a lifesaver at not having to do the pulldown.

BTW... Runnin very smooth in CS5 with several bitrate settings I've tried. Now using "b" settings because I need to be *positive* (or as close to it) that I won't get write errors for live events.

This was a thread about an ASC member's comments on the quality of GH1 footage. We can continue firmware tests/comments in other threads please.

Michael Reichmann over at Luminous Landscape is very impressed ...

As if mid-June, 2010 Panasonic has been silent on this hack, though certainly they are well aware of it. I would urge Panasonic to embrace this user community enhancement of their product by not doing anything to hinder or stifle it. Canon has done the right thing by recognizing the power of the Internet and the user community to propelling a product (the 5D MKII) to success, and Panasonic would be well advised to do the same.
I recall reading that he worked for Panasonic back in the day and still maintains contacts, so hopefully the message will get through.
