Ripple editing

I'm tring to put a clip on the time line and want the other clips to slide over to make room, but I can't find ripple edit for the life of me. were they hiding it?
Sorry for the somewhat stupid question. the manual I recieved with V5 is very thin and going on line at home is not a option.

Re: Ripple editing

Also, you can do a post-edit ripple by using the "Post-Edit Ripple" submenu under the "Edit" menu.

It keeps you from having to do the edit again if you forgot to turn on the Auto Ripple (Ctrl+L) function before you did the edit.

I often use the post edit ripple tools because it's too much of a hassle to keep turning on/off the Auto Ripple function. I just use the keyboard shortcuts for the post-edit ripple options after I do an edit that I want to ripple.

Re: Ripple editing

Yeah I agree with Jive.. the auto ripple can be a pain in the ass.

Re: Ripple editing

Thanks for the help guys. I had found post ripple but was not sure what it was gonna do. sounds like the way now.

Sorry for such a basic question. I'm just trying to dive in and get started with V5 since I just got it last week. I bought the boxed V5 and DVDA2 in hopes of getting the real manual, like I get with my audio software. I've used V3 on a couple of small projects but it was a while ago.

Unfortunately I have the lowly dialup situation so the manual download is slow and painful, but I promise I will do it tonight.
I always try a search before posting basic stuff so not to aggravate, but came up with nothing.

Besides, you guys explain much better than any manual :)

Thanks again for your help guys.

Re: Ripple editing

Seriously, Vegas' help file is one of the best.  Very detailed and helpful.  It's pretty much the only thing I reference when I want to figure something out :)
I don't know if I've even looked at the downloadable manual more than once. :)
