Ripple delete leaves me out of Sync ! What am I doing wrong ?

New convert from FCP here !

Editing in 5.5 Premiere,
Depending where I am in the timeline ripple delete ( i press shift delete) deletes and moves over just the video files leaving my audio files out of sync . But if i'm near the end of the clip ripple delete works fine. This is weird. Any one else having this problem ? Why is it happening ?


Also had one other question I couldn't figure out. In FCP, if I lose sync with a clip I just select it and type in the number on the keyboard and it numerically moves it over. Is there a similar way to do it on the keyboard with Premiere ?
 
Are your video and audio tracks linked together? If not, when you select the video you won't be selecting the audio, and the audio slip out. Make sure you have both the audio track and video tracks selected. May not be the problem, but worth double checking.
 
I'm new to P Pro and not in front of it, but I think if you right click, there's a sync function.
The red numbers that show your degree of out of sync should disappear.

Yes it does.

They should be. Maybe not every one. It's hard to say because some are going to be linked, others grouped, and some stand alone. It's just tough when I want to simply bring them together and now I have to use the Select all forward button. Just makes it more complicated.
 
Have you tried targeting all the v&a tracks before "ripple deleting" a section.


Quick way to target all tracks= "Shift-Click" ( Windows)
 
Expand view to max, use the razor tool to mark out the sections, including the audio, using the ctrl key (if needed) to select both, and delete.

Using this method, when I right click on the selected material I see the item labeled "ripple delete" in the pop up menu. Choosing that menu item--or alt+backspace in Windows--deletes the material and removes the "gap". I'm sorry if this is not a ripple delete as I assumed that was what the menu referred to, as well as the help menu, which lists ripple delete for both deleting clips and closing gaps.
I use the razor tool in case I previously had used a rolling edit in on track but not another, potentially causing the material to go out of sync against a fixed audio track. I'm sure there is an easier way to do it, I just have always done it that way. Tracks may be "locked" against this kind of delete.

No apology needed and I was not trying to be a smart arse. You only mentioned 'Delete' and not that you right clicked to the Ripple Delete option.

What ever...Premiere uses a Track Targetting workflow. If tracks are not targeted..they will not shift with the Ripple Delete. Tracks that have no room to move will stay put. Locked tracks will stay put.
