Ring for softbox

I have several older Mole-Richardson tungsten lamps that I picked up over the years, including Midgets, InBetweenies, Mini-Moles, Teenie-Weenies, Tweenies, Baby-Babies, and Mickey-Moles, ranging from 100 watts to 1K watts. I'd like to get a softbox (I've been looking at Chimeras) for one of the Mickey-Moles and it would be great if, when desired, I could use the same softbox for one of the smaller lamps too.

My confusion has to do with which ring(s) to purchase. And, once I have it, where does it go on the lamp? Are the rings made to fit on the front of the lamp and fit on like barn doors? Or is a ring supposed to go somewhere else on the lamp?

Thank you for your assistance.

You need to get a SPEED RING sized for your particular lights (and some of them fit more than one model). Speed rings generally fit into the same clips that hold barn door and snoot attachments. There are some exceptions for odd-shaped lights, but for fresnels it's generally the barn door mounts.

Another speed ring for Mole Richardson

And one more.
