Rigging the A7S with the Atomos Shogun

After much pissing about with different rigs, I've settled on Zacuto's next gen recoil, which seems to be a marriage made in heaven when twinned with the A7S and Shogun.

How are you guys combining these two powerhouses?

I've ordered the Lockport cage as well to add further protection whilst we're abroad shooting next month. Should be perfect.

That looks like a mean little set up! Would you be able to add an adapter support underneath it near the camera base. Seems like the camera's base isn't flush up to the end of the quick release.

This is my solution for the Odyssey or Shogun on the FS7, it works on both, I also have a hood for the Shogun

This is very versatile and very solid, the monitor is always level with the horizon, with the Shogun version there is a bracket in the back that also helps with the XLR cables:

Hows the balance with the 7q mounted on the back?

The Odyssey or Shogun makes a great rear counter weight. There are many options like heavier batteries that help too. In the straight back position is best IMHO.

Sharyn says this is the most comfortable rig I have come up with yet.

The right side mounting option is for moving focus puller or producer breathing down your neck off to the right of the camera.
