Hey guys!!! Hope all is well! I have a tough question. Is there a way to attach a fluid head to a speed rail/ grid? Is there a clamp that you could screw to a fluid head? I'm trying to get a shot from directly above the actor as quickly as possible! Thanks in advance.

Do you need to pan? If not, just get a right angle cheese plate and some 3/8th threaded cheese bouroughs. Should be able to clamp onto the pipe with that. If you need it to pan or operate for some reason, mount your hi hat on a piece of wood you don't care about, drill holes and bolt that to the right angle cheeseplate.

Thanka a ton!!! I don't need to pan at all! Right angle cheese plate? Where would I find one of those?

Kessler makes a bowl attachment for their cranes, but I found a similar thing on eBay from an Asian seller. A 75mm bowl with a flat plate extending with 3/8-16 threaded holes.

Just insanely useful for making oddball rigs. Maybe $60 or so.
