I was doing research on DVUser about rigs.

I have seen these in action on youtube and I was wondering what is the advantage of a Fig Rig over a gildecam?

a figrig / halorig is a COMPLETELY different animal than a glidecam. a glidecam / steadicam / etc. has a gimbal and actively counterbalances the camera.
the fig / halo is really just a different (arguably better) way to HOLD a camera. it doesnt in itself have any steadying functionality.

two separate devices for two separate needs. and both require practice to use well. dont think youre going to buy either on friday and be shooting with it on monday.
