OK, after 3 consecutive one-man-band shoots where i couldn't get either of my sennhesier g2s to work, I finally realized that the HPX500 is creating some kind of RF issue that screws up the sennheisers.
Here's a quick rundown. I own multiple g2 wireless sets on both block A and C, this has occurred with both. I get to my shoot and scan for free frequencies, and i usually find around 4 per block. But then, when i power the hpx up I get a ton of interference on all channels. If i do a scan with the recievers mounted on the camera, I always get 0 free channels. Last night I had a little time to mess around before i went to hardwire, and I realized that if I get the receivers at least 3 feet away, I get free channels again. So wierd. I ended up putting them on my belt and running XLRs up to the camera, but that is not always ideal (for instance, last night I only had spare 50 foot cables, so I spent 7 hours with 100 feet of cable hanging of my hips. it sucked, and also I looked like an ass in front of my client and the celebrity I was shooting)
SO, this is a new occurence, it only started happening once i sent my camera to panny to have the WB fixed. Im wondering if they could have unshielded something that would cause such bad RF issues? any thoughts? has anyone else experienced this?
