Rewiring FS700 handgrip buttons?

Has anyone tried to rewire the buttons on their handgrips? More specifically I'm wondering if it's possible to change the (dare I say useless!) still photo button to perform push auto aperture (instead of the contortionist pinky button), and the zoom rocker to do opening and closing of aperture. This would make native lenses a lot more useable for reactive shooting.

The former tweak I can't imagine to be very hard... The latter is no longer rewiring and probably much harder, but I have no idea.

To the best of my knowledge, the handgrip sends out a serial signal. You should be able to rewire any two simple pushbutton switches by interchanging their wiring. For any one switch, there will either be two wires, or one wire plus a connection to a ground. I haven't done this, and it will affect your warrenty.

Yeah, the photo button is such a waste. I wish these buttons were assignable to other functions. That would be the handgrip so much more useful.

Unless you got a spare, I wouldn't fiddle around with it. Who knows may be we can change the functionality via a future firmware update?

The handgrip send out LANC command signals, so you'd need to actually reprogram the button/elect rockery to send out a different command signal.
