Rewards of Failure

This projects marks my Directorial Debut.

It a beast to get it going but I'm really happy for the experience and project. Shot in LA inside of 3 different hostels.

This project taught me everything about filmmaking. While I've been dabbling in films before, this was a start to finish project. Learned every aspect. Casting, Location Scouting, how hard extras are to get!

So much backstory to share. I'll be pulling up old pictures and posting them. If anyone has questions to get started let me know.

Hhhahahahah.. Okay first off, It's funny that you said hard to get extra's because My roommate and I were in the bar scene. He's playing pool and I was the bartender. I knew the actors looked familiar but it wasn't until 10 mins in that I realized I'd worked on this.

Congrats on the finished product.

Really?!? How cool is that.

Oh that scene was insane for me. How to make it look like a party when half of the extras were hostel guest who not only just checked in, but probably just landed in America. "Welcome to Hollywood, ready to be in a film?" Of course they all said yes. But then 10 mins later they realized that making a movie isn't as exciting as watching one and wanted to leave. I wanted locals (like yourself - which I believe you just moved to the area?) I remember posting on the usual sites and it wasn't until I changed my posting from extras wanted to extras wanted - free burgers and beer did the replies start coming in. Which worked. Just remember if you guys do that, put it out AFTER you get your shots. Which I did. Because it's amazing how many 'have to go' after the food :D

Cutting that scene was tough. All shots in one direction have ppl, the others didn't. Good time to use creative editing (low shots, CU's). And him drunk at the bar were shot 3 months later with it being completely empty! My editor Johnny is amazing so I have to give him credit for saving me there.

I believe you stayed til the end, Much appreciated. When I get back to LA let me know what projects you're working on so I can help out.
