Hey all,

Since I've been on DVXUser, I've updated my reel quite often and posted for suggestions and comments. Some of you have seen my work progress over the years! Anyhow...

Here's my latest edit of the reel with clips from a number of new productions added to it but are mainly 35mm and HD. There are two HVX/G35 clips in there and few DVX/G35/Mini35 clips in there...can you guess which ones are which format?

it was good but i couldn' t get the sound? i thought it was a little fast between shots imo.
 
Oh, if you had audio, you would see why the clips are cut together quickly. The track is only 1min35 seconds I believe and it starts off slow but the 2nd part of the track is fast and high-energy so I would have to cut it faster and to the music.

I'm not sure why you're sound doens't work. Mine works for both? Anyone who watches this experience the same thing?

Great stuff Norm, everything flows great w/ the music etc. The only shot I didn't care for was the graveyard one in the beginning. Tim.
 
Just joined the family, and for one of my first 'screen grabs' off this site. Im really inspired. The content of your work has some great depth and edgyness, dark, but not in a cheese horror way, dark in contex and drama... maybe i'm waffling but i know what i like and i like it! where can i see more?

I'm practicing architecture, and just saved up all my pennies for a DVX (100BE) to pursue, as a hobby for now, my long loved affiliation for film.
Please tell me u shot some of that footage with the DVX...? it'll make me so happy!

Dug your work as always. I'd say put some sharpening on it before compression.. the compression is blurring the whole thing a bit. Blur for me takes away the initial sexy wow factor on seeing video online.
Where's the color? Or are you a 'shades of grey' guy?
Noticed the snowboarding footage was new.. some nice framing + composition there!.

I'd say your next step in photography is into the world of rich, pure color and all the wonderful emotions it can express.
 
nice reel man. You've got some beautiful cinematography. I think this is a really solid reel and each shot is equally beautiful.

The music is quite nice as well, where did you find it?
 
Norm you are the Stud. I'd hire you without blinking! Wow.

For me the following clips do not work:

00:00:21 seconds the woman
00:00:25 seconds the man in car
00:00:39 seconds the woman
00:00:45 seconds man in shower
00:01:03 man with stuff on his hands

They just seemed out of place (not as stellar as the rest). I also think your name and contact info should be up waaaayyyy longer. I also assume the Gamma diference is your Mac contrasting with my PC, yes ?

Norm is one of the few people here that is actually doing it now and making it happen for himself.
 
Sweet. Good work. One suggestion, flip the two segments - quick first, slow second. Title card longer as sugested - good stuff.
 
norm...I hate you :D . I remember seeing water and was like WOWZA! I like the graphics on your page man. amazing.
 
Nice body of work... this is a practical question though.. you've got one tiny clip of someone smiling and one shot of anything approaching 'cheery' sunlight. Are you
targeting the reel to 'more of the same' clients? You may appear 'limited' by most
corporate firms or clients looking for someone for a 'lighter' project. Who's the
intended market for this reel cut?
 
norm you have a couple bad links in your portfolio, the QT for IZI and the kanabli$$ link. if you already didn't know.

by the way what was the song you used for your reel?
