A couple of days ago I received my super cheap 35MM 1.7 lens from rainbowimaging out of New York. I shot here and there and really liked it. In perfect conditions it was actually pretty sharp, of course the $25 dollar price made it seem super sharp. If they can build a lens and sell it this cheap, why not build a 50 or 70 dollar good quality lens?

Do you have a link to the lens?

Also, at this price quality control could be an issue. Mine may be good but the next may not. Although, I have a feeling it is in the best interest of those poor Chinese workers to produce consistency.

Being that you need to use the ETC mode, i think it turns the field of view to like 70mm f 2.8? is this correct? I think because your only using part of the sensor in etc mode, your losing light, I don't think it remains a 1.7, but i'm not sure of that, only guessing here, any thoughts or corrections on this?

Don't know. I know in that mode it does crop somewhere around 2.4 or 2.6. I don't know if this mode is on or off with the lens. All I know is it is way better that the 14-140 lens in low light, but not as sharp of course. But for 25 bucks it was definitely a good experiment.
