Return of the Jedi deleted scene.

Wasn't it the release before that? I picked up what I'm pretty sure was the last DVD release and it was only the pig-awful butchered cuts. Gave 'em to my nephew who was delighted to have 'em.

A couple years ago they released DVDs of the new versions of episodes 4, 5 & 6 that included separate discs of the original cuts. The only bad part was the audio was also the original 2.0 stereo mix.

Original, theatrical releases with 5.1 audio on Blu-ray is what the purists want. Is that too much to ask? Not enough money?- Sell the rights to the gosh-awful prequels.

Lucas wants us to forget that the original theatrical cuts even existed. I think he's almost got himself persuaded that they never did.

Well, they were encoded with Dolby Pro Logic, so 4.0. They also were non-anamoprhic, just 4x3 letterbox. The version I got didn't come in its own case, was just a 2nd disc in the same case with the other.
As a fan of the original trilogy the entire thing pisses me off. What a slap in the face.

Yeah, it's lame, but they actually were only 4.0 matrix encoded surround sound on initial release. There were 6 track 70mm presentations but that was 5 front tracks and one surround. The non-anamorphic transfers is another matter, although they look fine on smaller screens. They don't hold up on my projector at all, though.

Well . . .

If it has a 5.1 mix, it wouldn't technically be "pure."
