Return my D300s?

Hi all - forum noob here.

I am a semi-pro photographer (http://ihartphotos.com) with a burning desire to get into video - specifically music videos.

I am a Nikon shooter and just (2 days ago) got a 300s becuase of its video capabilities.
Perhaps I left my voracious forum reading to late - after I had purchased the camera - but after reading thru this forum I am considering a move to Canon. The Canon ergonomics are absolutely terrible, IMO, but the technological capabilities are exactly what I'm after with full frame 20+ MP for stills & 1080p video capabilities.

Am I correct that all parameters are adjustable on the 5Dm2, specifically the ISO & shutter speed?

Any advice?

edit - and yes, as an experienced photographer I am definitely aware of the cost of switching systems. I don't have a lot of realy expensive glass other than my 70-200 2.8 VR

well how does the D300s work with video? I've seen good and bad. Some really good video with the D300s. But if you are not sure return it.

If you insist on full frame, 5DMk2 is currently your only choice.

If you're open to cropped frame, the upcoming Canon 7D is the real competitor to the D300S. And (as a Nikon user) I'm sorry to say that its video capabilities outstrip those of the D300S, in terms of resolution and available frame rates.

With that said, I've seen some excellent music videos shot on the D90, so there's no reason you couldn't do the same with a D300S.

IMO, music videos are exactly the kind of productions that can profit from the organic look of the D300s but some people do not care about that. If what you're after is manual control and 1080p then Canon is the way to go these days.

the 70-200 should have GREAT resale value.

ive been a canon guy forever, but i like the D300. Great cam.

You wont be disappointed by the images from the mkII. its great. i was unhapy with it for the first 1000 photos or so, but it seems it has a burn in period. suddenly it jsut performs better.

These videos keeps me coming back to the D300s.

See those videos, while nice, seem typical of what 99% of the people seem to be using the D90/300s for - landscape-ish, environmental light shots.

IMO people need to see more stuff like Vinyl Stax so we can see what some effort on the lighting, posing, sets and planned camera movements look like.
