After too many years to admit, I am finally retiring from the video biz. Needless to say, I have a LOT of gear I'd like to move, more than anything because I need the real estate for other things now but also because there is a lot of nice stuff that should be getting some use somewhere. I am the kind of guy who takes meticulous care of my gear. I can provide details and photos to interested parties, but in a nutshell, this is what is available. (there is more than this, so if you're looking for something specific just ask! I'm sure I've forgotten more than a few things)

I can personally vouch for Derek. We go way back and he is a great guy to work with. In other words, you can trust him to deliver whatever he's selling.
It is a sad day to see him hanging up his spurs!

Boom is a K-Tek KE-110CC. I also have a couple of shock mounts w/ boom attachment and pistol grip. The boom pole is in mint condition, used only for indoor sit-down interviews.

This probably has more to do with the reduced activity and less moderation around here than in busier times, but I am under the impression that we aren't supposed to post a single "closeout sale" post with multiple items like this, see the sticky at top of Marketplace. Just giving you a heads up in case you find this thread removed, if a mod comes across it.

Ah. I didn't know that. It just seems crazy to try to post each item separately since there is so much. Thanks for the heads up, and at least I'll know why if it's removed.

Wow. That's a lot of rules! I guess I understand the need to filter out commercial attempts, but it does severely limit situations like mine and also deprives members of possibly finding exactly what they might have been looking for. If it gets taken down, I'll probably try to find a reseller somewhere because I simply don't have the time to try to list each individual item, and I actually hate eBay anyway. Thanks again for the heads up. But as long as this stays up, the stuff is priced to sell! I tried one reseller once (MPB) and absolutely will NEVER go through a nightmare like that again. Those guys are to be avoided like the plague.

I hope they let your thread stay up. How much is your teleprompter going for? I may know someone who needs one. And where are you local to?

Thanks,
Abe

I agree. Again it may slide under radar since it's a pretty small group kinda keeping the lights on over here. I hope so for your sake. I have a list of things about half that long to sell also, maybe I'll post. There's also the possibilty of hosting the list elsewhere and putting up that link...I dunno.

Hi, Abe
Thanks, I hope it stays up a while too... the thought of trying to sell this much stuff on eBay makes me want to stick pencils in my eyes!
The iPad prompter is the 'Ultralight' model. I'd sell it for $200 with a Pelican case. I can get some photos if you want. My email is in the post.

Is this the unit? https://prompterpeople.com/stage-pr...j3zEH6__sq4CbFNiIjh5zG4rHM6-rHdBoC_GcQAvD_BwE

And then you just shoot through the glass with a flag or duvetyne on top to cut reflections? Or is this something you put next to the lens? Thanks

No, it's this one https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/prod...ultralight_teleprompter_for_ipad_android.html
It allows standard teleprompt text via an iPad or other tablet, but we used it for doing interviews so the interviewee was looking directly into the lens. We had the interviewer hooked up to an iPad conducting the interview using Facetime. He was in the same room, but out of sight of the interviewee so they could both hear each other, but could only see each other via the tablet. It's a great way to do interviews where you want the subject looking in the lens. It's almost impossible to do it otherwise because it's really hard for people being interviewed to remember to look in the lens... they want to see the person interviewing them. The whole unit fits on top of a tripod and is very adjustable to virtually any camera lens height and the glass just slides over the lens.

That's an interesting approach. Isn't the delay over Facetime disconcerting to the person being interviewed, when they are being asked a question the lips on the interviewer would be considerably out of sync with what they are hearing in the room?

No... there's not enough delay to notice. We do it that way so you don't risk any audio from the tablet interfering. We used to take an output from the camera to a little monitor for the interviewer, and another camera on him to a small display on the teleprompter but it was a pia to set up every time... this works really well and is super easy, and fast to get set up.

I've done a similar setup many times with my prompters. Far better than the old clunky Eye Direct analog method. I do prefer having a hard wired connection between the interviewer's camera and the prompter, but even over WiFi the delay is barely noticeable and not an issue even if the talent and interviewer are in the same room. But with that said, I try to have them NOT in the same room, or at least separated as far as the space allows because some talent will have difficulty not breaking eye contact with the prompter and looking over to the real person.

True... but we ended up keeping them in the same room for audio issues. If we relied on the tablet for audio, there was always the chance that the tablet audio would interfere, or in rare cases cause some feedback. So we block the interviewer completely from view, and he even has his back to them. I'm sure it's a little strange at first, but after a few moments, people get pretty used to talking to a display. Maybe a couple of years of COVID and Zoom meetings have helped condition people for that!

My client says:

"This looks like a great option. I can’t see the exact specs but if it’ll work with an FS7 and Canon 24-70 / Sony 16-35 lens then why not? Shipping shouldn’t be an issue I hope.

What’s the condition of the glass? Can he send a photo? Also, is it coming with the iPad? Assuming no…"

I had told him that we would probably have to pay to ship it from Nevada. Could I trouble you to send us a photo? And do you know what the maximum field of view is? I don't imagine it could possibly be an issue but it would be useful to let him know what is the widest focal length it can accommodate.

Thanks,
Abe
