Retina EVF and EVF Mounting hardware

LuckyStudio 13

The Tapeless One
I wish I can just walk into a store and test these two out. Word on the street that I heard regarding these two retina models;

a) Cineroid has better image than Alphatron.

b) Alphatron is built better than Cineroid.

Anybody have any experience with the above two units ? Which one do you have and a small review would be great !

Mounting option; should I go with the W00den Camera Mount or Solid Camera Mount ??

I havent tried the Alphatron... but I read a lot of people complaining about the bad screen. So I bought the Cineroid 4RVW.
And I can tell you the build is not bad... solid metal except for the loupe which means it balances well.

My only two gripes with it is the fact that you need a pc to update the firmware and that the battery isnt locked into place. But Im just counting on not too many fw updates and I havent had a battery fall off yet.

Mine is mounted on the Tilta articulated arm.

Can you explain on how the battery isnt locked in place ? Is it easy to bump the evf and make the battery fall out ? Do you have a pic to show and tell please?

You know how on most NP-F mounts the battery gets inserted and a small pushable pin behind the battery is inclined and keeps it in place till you push it down to remove it. The npf mount on the Cineroid is not long enough to accomodate this feature. But like I said I havent had a battery fall out yet. You need a decent blow from the camera side to force it off. Im not worried myself... just thought it was worth noting.

Thanks for the details ! I think i rather deal with that versus bad images. I wonder if Cineroid sells just the loupe should it tets damaged.

Dunno to be honest, although it seems quite sturdy. But you can trust that Soon-Gi will take his time to adress any issues if they occur. I would imagine that they would replace anything not working as intended. They provide good service and stay in touch with the resellers.
