My name is Drew Suppa and I am a 24 year old DP/Camera Op in Los Angeles. I recently completed two short HD films that are slated to go to festivals in the United States.
My expertise ranges from DV to HD to Film. I've shot on just about every format worth mentioning in the past 15 years: Super8, Super-16, Super-35, NTSC DV, PAL DV, HD 720P 2:3:2:3, HD 1080P 2:3:2:3 and soon plan to have hands-on experience with 4K motion capture.
I firmly believe that the lens makes the image, and that glass is more important than what format you're shooting on. When working with video, I prefer using adapters and 35mm film plane lenses. I prefer Cooke S4i and Panavision PRIMO lenses, but am flexable enough to work with just about anything.
My lighting background comes mostly from film, with minor focuses in stage lighting and broadcast TV. I was an understudy to John Toll, ASC, two years ago on the set of Rise: Blood Hunter. John Toll is one of two DPs in Academy history to win consecutive Oscars for his work on Legends of the Fall and Braveheart. He's also shot The Last Samurai, Elisabethtown, Vanilla Sky and Almost Famous.
My work is ever-improving, and with professional crew and gear, I believe I am capable of producing a recorded masterpiece.
One of my many career-goals is to bridge the gap between 35mm film and 4K video, and tell a visual story so spectacular that people stop arguing over format choice and start focusing on the image created. Ambitious, I know, but I'm going to do it.
PM me on this site for my resume, and please include your email address so that I can send it as an attachment. I am looking for work in Southern California, whether it be Grip & Electric or Camera Department. I've done AC work as well as Operating and Cinematography.
See frame grabs of recent works below:
Note that the light in all of the grabs is artificial. No natural light was used during either production.
Thanks guys!
Hope to hear from you!
