Restoring firmware & error codes?

I suppose that anyone can restore original firmware of the camera. However, according to service manual, the error codes cannot be initialised (erased). What does it mean? Each error produced in camera is stored within camera's memory (camera's FLASH ROM) and up to 16 errors can be memorised. So, if somebody is frequently changing bitrate settings, it will likely produce several writing errors which will be recorded inside the camera. It probably won't mean anything when taking the camera to repair service, but it is good to know that our "attempts" are recorded. I suppose that errors are not initialised by changing the firmware.

By the way, according to service manual, there are two errors related to "Motion Image Recording". Namely, error "3F000001" which means "File time error in recording motion image" and "3F000002" which is "File data cue send error in recording motion image". Has anybody tested which error occurs when bit rate is too high?

I always get the "Cannot record motion picture due to the write speed limitations of the card" or something along those lines if I take the bit rates too high. If the camera doesn't freeze up but just stops recording and you can start recording again, then that is a normal "bit rate too high" error. I'm using a Patriot LX 16GB Class 10 card and 50,52,70 bit rate settings with no native 24p and I don't get any errors even when I record a high detail static shot of a green leafy tree using a tripod.
