I am always fascinated at what people's perception of how a Moderator should conduct themself.
Why is that comment unnaceptable ? It basically states if you are an A Hole or Troll or looking for trouble you will not last here. I'd find it hard pressed for anyone to argue against that take.

You have nothing to worry about. Personally, the mods here and at DVInfo did Shannon a favor by yanking one of the worst flames I've ever seen on a DV board and probably illegal to boot. Michael Pappas, thinking he was serving some free speech cause, is obviously is a little rusty on free speech law, slander and libel.
The DV/HD Community is not as big as people think it is. Your behavior over the years has been exemplary. We all have our perspectives - that's what's make each person's POV interesting, but you have always been honest about yours and worked to offer a balanced viewpoint.
My prediction is that Mr. Rawls is the only one to find that his reputation has been harmed. Personally, the restraint & maturity you have shown is better than I would have done.
Finally, I agree that the wonderful, generous work you and the others did to setup, conduct and relay the results of this shoot is a great gift to our community and it's a disgrace that one ***** with a chip (pun intended) on his shoulder had to throw a public tantrum.

I also find it funny how Michael Pappas' original post on his website in concern to Shannon's article said something like, "Here's Shannon Rawls' article on the shootout" followed by something like "Long live freedom of speech!." Funny to see what his website says now....

What can I say ? This is me. I'm not pulling punches, checking for grammar, running spell checks. I am not PC. This is me.
I'm the most laid back dude you would ever meet. Unfortunately, I have to be a bad guy and ban people from time to time. I'm not losing sleep over it if anyone is wondering.
(There has been a recent 6 month period starting June 7th when I quit a 22 year smoking habit; admittedly I became quite the pissed off dude for awhile and do apologize to anyone who had to deal with my moods. I'm trying to get back to normal for what it's worth. :undecided :lipsrseal )

He's definately got some serious hangup issues.
I could not believe all the smack garbage I read.
I read your post first and thought it was very honest.
You pointed out the good and bad regardless on the camera.
All I got from Shannon's post was him talking about everyone else.
Absoulutely nothing technical worth while.

I have read it all and frankly I am stunned. This is actually worse than last week when I thought there wasn't a person on the web worth talking to. I have never seen anything like this. Can we call in a shrink? (psychologist for the out-of-towners ;-)
You are one of the most professional and articulate persons, in a way that people understand. Barry you are part of the cream in every one's coffee in the morning because we just can't keep the hours that you do. ;-)

Between Barry's statement and posts on other sites all I can say is "wow".
I believe the Barry and the other principals of this site want to share honest information about these topics. Some of this information is technically measurable and another portion of it is subjective due to aspects of creative intent and personal feelings with what one likes or dislikes in equipment and images.
Apparently whatever happened here was unfortunate. That said I hope the four-camera shootout will be posted when the folks who participated are ready to share the results. As adults and professionals we should be able to parse the results into useful data to help us evaluate what camera might be the best for us - if indeed we are looking to but one.

Well, Shannon Rawls and I have just enjoyed a two-hour telephone conversation, and I think we've successfully ironed out any differences. He's asked Michael Pappas to remove the original post that Michael's been hosting, and has volunteered to make some clarifications on DVInfo. Hopefully the issue is now settled and we can lock this thread down.

I DID NOT SEE ANYTHING LIKE THAT, I DID NOT WITNESS BARRY GREEN DO ANYTHING LIKE THAT....AND HONESTLY, I DO NOT THINK BARRY EVEN "TOUCHED" ANY OTHER CAMERA THERE BESIDES THE PANASONIC HVX200. HE REFUSED TO HANDLE THEM, SO IT IS "IMPOSSIBLE" FOR HIM TO PUT ANY CAMERA AT A DISADVATAGE OR CHANGE ANY SETTINGS ON ANY OF THOSE CAMERAS. BARRY GREEN ONLY HANDLED THE PANASONIC HVX200 AND DID HIS VERY BEST TO MAKE SURE THAT CAMERA PERFORMED IT'S VERY BEST DURING THE TESTS. WHICH IS WHAT WAS CLEARLY STATED EARLY THAT MORNING AS OUR ULTIMATE GOAL.
