FS7: Resolve Examples

I was part of the Neat Video NR group buy on REDUser and I don't regret it at all.

If you want to recover 2 usable stops in your shadows and keep detail instead of hiding it by crushing them, a good NR really makes a difference in my opinion when you can't overexpose because you want to retain highlights or not have anything clipping.

But after NR you most certainly want to add some type of grain back into the image, as Osslund points out, really just to bring some life back into the images.

The nikkor lens you use, 50-300 mm does it need support? I want to trade my 80-200 for the 50-300, I like the focal length (or should I keep both?).

Very nice, but why adding film grain? Is a bit like adding craquelé to a modern painting. Or do clients want it?

My list of 'reproduced flaws' grows:
- bokeh (shallow depth of field is a lens flaw).
- grain ( used to be a problem with fast (1600 ASA) films).
- reproducing old film stock with LUTs
- 24 frames per second for film-look

It seems difficult to say goodbye to the old chemical celluloid. :)

The only problem is that without several of those 'flaws' footage tends to look like a soap opera or The Hobbit.

At the end of the day the world and humans are analog.

Loving this. Could you list your adjustments to achieve that? For me it's still sometimes hard to deconstruct look to individual tweaks.
Green tint and lower saturation. What else?

You take red out of the blacks/lower mid tones and take blue out of the highlights.

The idea is you leave the values where the skintones are untouched so they pop.

I guess it is eye and looking at wfm and practice.

My 50-300 needs support - I also have a af 70-200 that doesn't imo
