request pointer to forum for ambient nature sound recording

I've got some sound questions that are not about filmmaking really, so this forum is not really the right place to ask. Problem is, I used to know a forum perfect for these questions, and I've lost that URL. Sigh...

So.... I'm looking for forum(s) that are more focused on recording ambient nature sounds. That is, rain, thunder, insects, animals, etc. Not humans, and not human voice, and really, not for use in films even. For the human based stuff I come here, so I've at least got that covered.

Anyway, anyone know what I'm talking about? Any pointers welcomed.

Hi Bruce,

Although an FB group rather than a forum, the Facebook Field Recording Group one is very active and useful for the areas you describe: https://www.facebook.com/groups/field.recording/about

And, although a blog, Magnús Bergsson's Soundimage (https://fieldrecording.net/) is extremely good (unparalleled, I'd say) - he uses a very diverse range of gear for nature recordings, includes many recordings, and also has links to most other relevant blogs, forums etc. that you may find useful.

Cheers,

Roland

Bruce, you might visit https://jwsoundgroup.net
Jeff is the son of my former mentor Haskell, and has a great forum for sound.
FWIW... I generally record ambient sounds using my Zoom F6 now since it's so portable.
Many times I'll Dedicate 4 channels to a Rode NT-SF1 Soundfield mic for Ambisonic, and 2 channels for stereo with mic selection dependent on the subject being recorded.

Best!

Dave

Most JW group members are 'production sound mixers' and primarily record dialog for movies and such. But it may be a good source of info regardless.
