Not hearing a lot about this. I'd like to know how many more people outside of Mac and Jack and that fella who did the horror movie are using the Letus Flip with the HVX?
That was before I ran into the grain issue. If you can use slower shutter speeds to blur the grain, it's a phenomenal tool at the price. You just have to be aware that bright whites or skies can display some muddy grain on 'em.
(Sorry that it is not hi-def, but it should give you an idea at least.)
I've been using it for about 9 months and I like it overall, but there are a number of things that bug me about it. Most of it has to deal with the overall "give" in the whole system and general cheapness of the parts used. (Be careful using in direct sunlight, the glue may melt and throw off the alignments inside) And Barry's right about the grain too, you just have to be careful.
On the plus side of things, it's small and inexpensive, easy and quick to put on, the images don't have to be flipped in post, and it can be used to produce really nice images. But the Flip capability is really my main reason for using it - avoiding that whole conversation of "why is everything upside down" and then having to explain optical physics is always a headache saver, but if you can live with flipping everything in post or whoever you hand footage off to can live with that - you might be better off with a different model than the Flip.
that footage looks nice, does anyone have any footage with the non flip, I'm wondering if the grain issue is still a problem with the letus35a? less light loss and all. and if it is, is this grain issue a problem with all vibrating adapters? should I stick with a spinner?
Hey garret that was pretty good. The first 30 seconds, the acting is a little clunky, try a different take for the american. but other than that, its REALLY rather solid, engrossing, and believable.
