Just a note just in case. When you run the camera shootout can you test the cameras with the detail circuits turned off, or reduced to a minimum (depending on the limitations that the camera allows for these settings) to gain a truer idea of each cameras sharpness and detail reproduction?

i think Barry already is working on this.. unfortunately all of the cameras have some level of default detail sharpening at zero, so it iwll be hard to match them all up as equal.

Well, you guys are professionals and know your sh** so I would assume you are going to tape the sample footage as well, to compare the codecs...Thanks keep rockin' on...

He-he. He said sh**!

The plan is to treat this like a multi camera shoot. If I had four F900s, I would adjust them so they would all track grey the same, same chroma sat, same detail, same coring, same flare, etc. Even though these are different cameras and different manufacturers, we will get them to look as similar as possible to each other. If one camera ships from the factory with high detail and high chroma, it might lead the observer to think it is able to resolve more detail or reproduces color better. They HAVE to be all set the same, or you will never get a handle on the actual performance of the camera.

I guess some people will complain that one camera was "tuned down" or another boosted up, but the factory settings mean very little. And their idea of a baseline or "0" setting is completely irrelevant. The user can set up the camera however they choose. We need them to match so they are all compared on an even playing field.

MY ONE REQUEST: Please just fill the frame with some well-exposed blue sky! That's my chroma noise "torture test!" Thanks!
