Reputible Online Buying Site?

Hey gang!

I was looking to buy some camera toys and stumbled on some great deals on Buydig.com. I went to resellerratings.com which gave them a pretty favorable review but I just wanted to see if anyone else here has had experience with them?

I have a lot of faith in the members of DVXUSER so I wanted to check here first before I made any big purchases.

Thanks!

Rick

Check to make sure they're authorized dealers if you plan on buying anything big, like, say, a DVX. I've ordered from buydig, and survived. But for most things, and reliability, I either drive to EVS here in L.A., or order from B&H in New York or Full Compass (somewhere in-between? Wisconsin?).

I've found all three of these are reliable, provide great service, and have good prices - and are extremely helpful in the rare case where any problems may come up. Among these three, prices vary, and each seems to have certain "specializations" - e.g., B&H always seems to have the best prices on Glyph drives, EVS is really tied into the DVX community and provides great help with and prices on DVX gear, Full Compass has more sporadic price benefits (especially, at certain times, on Mogami cables and audio equipment), and has extended hours and overnight shipping options that have really helped me out in a pinch!

I've actually purchased a fairly expensive still camera from buydig.com and everything, luckily, went okay. But I still think they're one of those NY/NJ crap shoot kinda mail-order dealers, so I would still be wary. The only online dealer I trust is B+H Photo (http://bhphoto.com/). B+H is great because of their incredibly huge in-stock inventory.

the deal at buydig.com is awesome. BUT, they are not an authorized dealer, so you end up taking a big risk that you will get a dvx w/o a U.S. warranty. I've ordered from buydig and never had a problem.

the most I spent was $1,000 but the dvx costs a lot more and I didn't want to take a chance. Also I didn't want to risk not getting the rebate and other stuff (tapes, battery, dvx book and dvd).

Even if I got a a cam with the U.S. warranty and not the other stuff I would have been pissed. The rebate and extras takes a while to get, but I want them.

I think you can trust buydig to some extent, but for that much money I went with EVS.

Thanks a lot for the responses guys. What I was looking to buy was a still digital camera for my girlfriend for her birthday. I'm not planning on buying a DVX from there. That would be WAY WAY WAY too risky.

It's listed at $829.00 at buydig with stock lens, tax and shipping are included. So, it would be $829.00 grand total for a camera that sells for $879.00 at B&H. Now I have to admit, B&H's price is excellent compared to what I've seen ($929.00-$1,000) but B&H will charge me tax and shipping. That works out to be an extra $100 bones. Also, I do like evesonline. I purchased an AT4097 shotgun mic from Rush, he gave me a competitive price and it came fast, plus he threw in a mug. How cool is that? And frankly, I would MUCH MUCH rather give Rush at evesonline my business (because I trust him) than B&H because frankly, they can be rude b*stards. It's just the principle of the thing. I hate giving them my business.

So, I will contact Rush and hope he can compete with Buydig, because based on ResellerRatings.com and your comments, Buydig, at $829.00 seems like the way to go.

Okay guys before I plunk down money (which I am going to at some point tomorrow) I was hoping for a little more feedback about this online dealer. Does anyone else have a buydig.com story that they'd like to share? good or bad?

Thanks!
Rick
