Reporting for Next Firmware Update for HMC150

There is a Delete Button on Remote Controller which doesn't work on HMC150.
Can it be set as button for Delete Last Clip?

Barry,
Most of the cameras slow-shutter speed starts from 1/3 sec. (PD170, XH A1, FX1000, Z5, etc.)
And XDCam EX goes beyond everything, the shutter can be as longer as 64-frame.

Then why do HMC has slow shutter that is limited to 1/15 sec? And this is true about all panny cams. Why?

Well, it's not true about all Panasonic cameras, because the DVX100B has a "slow shutter" mode that takes the shutter down to 1/4 sec. And if you use the "frame rate hack" on the HVX200/HPX170, you can get 1/2 sec.

But as to why they don't just incorporate slow shutter speeds, I really don't know. The HPX170/HMC150 have a 1/15 shutter, and that's it. Why not 1/2? I don't know, but I wish they did.

Been clamoring for that for years. They actually added it to their monitors, but haven't added it to the cameras yet. Keep askin', it's such an obvious one they just have to do it sooner or later...

I've never used that, but I really would like to be able to use that feature.

my request is not a new feature, but a modification of an existing feature: please add a red outline to the EVF DETAIL feature that the cam already has. This would make judging DOF focus on a soft background so much easier than the focus graph (which is only useful if the everything in the frame is in focus)quote]

This is my NUMBER ONE REQUEST!

Panasonic just recently added new features to their LX3 point and shoot camera thru firmware updates such as 3 new HDR shooting modes and a 1:1 frame size and several other small additions. They should be able to finagle some of the simple requests like red EVF detail etc thru firmware updates.

But the LX3 is from the consumer division. Different company.

Hey, I want to see it happen as much as you guys do. But historically it just doesn't happen, at least in pro video.

New features are sometime added in firmware updates. Just look at the Canon 5D markII. They added manual control to their video mode.

Last month, they also announced that they will add 1080 24p and 25p next year to the already 1080 30p mode.

The difference is that on the 5D MKII Canon wants to please all their costumers, because if they do and give you what you want then they'll sell you more lenses... witch is all about money!

The moment Panasonic could make some more money by adding a few features, or sell you something extra (like a lens) then they would be all over the forums reading on what people want

Oh yes! This would be an excellent Firmwareupdate.. extremely helpful for fast focus judgeing!
My favorite on the whishlist

NXCAM offers DVD-Video. If Panasonic offered full-blown DV, would not it make more money for Panasonic by luring Sony's customers?

I was a Sony customer, and I'm not complaining about not having DV... If i wanted to have DV i would have kept my FX1 or even my old canon XL1S.
I have a different set of complaints, but thats another story!

I hear people saying "offer dv and hd as a transition camera" well those cameras have been out for a while, and if you really want that option get a used cheap SD camera from ebay.
For me is HD now and am not looking back to DV. If i need to do an SD project i could always down convert. DV is a way to regress not progress :violin:

To me the fact that sony is offering this new cameras is a benefit for all of us using the AVCHD codec, as this mean is here to stay for a while... HDV had it's run, but all things will come to an end!

What if you wanted progressive-scan DV? What if you wanted DV with 4:2:2 color?

SD cameras from ebay do not have native widescreen sensors, this is why BBC used the Z1 as widescreen DV camera.

DV is widely accepted for SD productions, while HDV/AVCHD is not accepted for hi-value HD productions. DV is intraframe. And DVCPRO offers 4:2:2 color, which is not offered by HDV or AVCHD.

Since the viewfinder and LCD are not the greatest for determining focus, I would like to be able to try that red EVF detail... if they ever add it. :) Low light or day for night stuff is a pain otherwise.

I would too, like to see the Red EVF detail, since its its very difficult to recognize the White edge in most situations.
I would also love to have 2.40:1 safety zone. Useful if shooting for Film.
And another small thing: An option to display Clip Duration under the Clip Thumbnails in PB mode.

Barry, Is this possible? In PB mode, changing the PB format to the clip format by 'Press-and-Hold' the enter button, as in HPX?

I don't know what's possible, but if they can do it on the 170, there should be good indications that the 150 could do it too.

want to add one more: I want to save my Battery backup time.
I want an option for ViewFinder to be OFF when LCD is open.

I thnk many people would like this.

-You're missing the hole point, I don't want progressive or interlace DV... period.
-Now can you please explain "SD cameras from ebay do not have native widescreen sensors" really???
-I see lots of shows done with HDV, Discovery Channel anyone?... plus not everyone cares about "hi-value HD productions" there's plenty of work being done with this camcorders. Take a look at the movie "Paranormal Activity" and tell the guy that did it "Sir you can't do that with a Sony FX1 because thats not a hi-value HD production camera"

I have many small projects that I'm currently working on, from a 1 year old Documentary (witch i just got back from Arizona) to cable shows, local productions, music videos, and yes event videography... and what i look for in a camera is different from a "hi-value HD production"

for a guy that doesn't own a professional camcorder you sure write alot

good day!

Maybe someone should hack the firmware or make a custom firmware for the HMCs like Magic Lantern is doing for the Canon 5D Mark II and Canon 7D.

Is this possible???? I'd donate to the cause for sure!

I want to see this ColorBar instead of the one in Camera, for calibration of any SD or HD Monitor with every possible setting.
Correct me if I am Wrong.
