Replacing DVX100 ac adapter and battery charger

Hey guys,

I did several searches and couldn't find anything on this so I figured I'd put it out there. I seemed to have misplaced my ac adapter and power cables which really sucks cuz I'm working a few videography jobs right now and the customers are a bit antsy to get their vids back (tough to capture without ac power :( ) Anyway, online you can get new ones at B&H only and they're $150. I'm looking to sell this camera soon and don't really want to drop the dough SO... there are some companies out there that sell $12 - $50 generic replacement cables. While I know that's not advisable I'm thinking I might risk it. Does anyone have any experience/suggestions on these???

Sorry. I'm bumping cuz I've been holding off to buy until I hear any comments. If this lapses a few more days I'll just hope for the best. Thanks for any help,

zb

Look in the battery compartment of your DVX100. There should be a standard DC jack just above the battery contacts. It's marked "7.9v DC" Any 7.9v ac to dc adapter (like, from Radio Shack) of the proper polarity will power the camera using that jack. This little bit of info can be found in Barry Green's DVX book.

Radio Shack sells a universal ac adapter with several voltage settings. One of those settings is 7.5v dc. Since the CGR series of camcorder batteries are rated at 7.2v dc and the camera is rated to handle up to 7.9v dc, the adapter falls right in there and should do the trick. Just be sure you use the correct tip with the correct polarity. I think the adapter costs around ten bucks.

I'd be really careful about using the Radioshack adapters- I've seen two of those melt and damage equipment.
