F3: Replacement Screw for PL Mount Notch?

Hey guys. So I'm no stranger to the Sony Parts site, but I can't seem to find this one.

On the Sony PMW-F3 PL mount, there's a tiny screw that sits in the middle of one of the four slots, to accept the notch in the PL lens ears. It's purpose is to lock the lens in place so it can't rotate when you twist and lock the pl mount.

I can't find a replacement on the Sony website. Does anybody know what the specifications of this screw are, and who would sell me a replacement?

Thanks!

I cant help with the Sony part department but you may find one at Misumi (misumi.com)

I believe it's a normal threaded shoulderless loctating pin M2 thread 3mm OD that is <2mm tall. Good luck - tiny precision parts are always fun.

Carlos,

Thanks. Currently, that site has me frustrated because I'm not confident in the selection.

Here's something I can add: it's the same pin as the F35, or otherwise compatible, down to the threading. I know this... because I bought an F35, and it was missing this pin, so I switched in the one from my F3 PL mount.

Maybe I can talk to my local rental shop.

The PL mount indexing pin doesn't have threads, or if they do they are miniscule. Pressure fit and not much pressure. Mine popped out the first time I tried to mount a PL lens. Fortunately I found it and reinstalled it with a tiny bit of nail polish on the sides. It hasn't moved since.

If you really had to you could get one made by a competent machinest.

Hmmm. The one from my F3 definitely has threads, and it appeared to thread just fine into the F35. When I read what you wrote I considered the possibility that they changed practices at some juncture, but my F3 is serial #156, and is from the original batch, received Feb 11th, 2011. It has a phillips head top.

I'll try calling my local machine shop and asking.

Yeah, Duclos cinemodded my Zeiss ZF set (now replaced with Arri UPs), so they were on my list for Monday. I figured they'd know where to get it if nothing else.

I never looked at my serial number before, so I went to look now. My SN is 100268, and is one of the earlier ones but not the first batch. Frankly I didn't think they actually sold over 100,000 F3s. Especially in so short of a time.

[Edit: Mine definitely does not have a screw head slot on the top.]
