I just ordered 2 Sennheiser G3 wireless lavs from B & H for a movie shoot coming up, but I'm hearing the ME2 isn't up to par with the system.

What is a good replacement lav mic for $50 - $200 that has a nice warm and rich sound for actor's dialog - for both indoor and outdoor shooting?

Both Countryman and Tram make Mics which offer improved sound quality for use with your Sennheiser system for around $200ish.

All the Best!

Here's another option - I haven't used these myself but folks at jwsound and some on here are very excited about these:

These are the cheapest good lavs. There's one that looks and sounds like a Tram and another one that goes more in the Countryman direction. USA made and sold directly from the manufacturer. I am about to make my order.

I have been using the Oscar Soundtech 801s for about 6 months now. The 801s have a high freq. boost which I prefer since I'm nearly always micing thru at least one layer of clothing.

I haven't bought another tram since. Not there is anything wrong with the TR-50s. They were my top choice before discovering OST but I simply cannot not ignore the price difference and have been quite pleased with the performace, durability, and customer support.

I am soon to be in the market for two more channels of wireless, and the OST801s will definitely be part of the purchase.

The better G3 systems come with the MKE 2-ew mic., this is vastly superior to the ME 2.

It's available separately and comes in black or beige versions.

I have four of the 802's , one in each available color. I also have a grey TL40. The 802's have more of a Sonotrim type response and sound more natural to me even under wardrobe. I also have Countryman B6s and Sonotrims. Customer service and support is excellent as is the build and sound quality. The mic John mentions is also a very good sounding mic.
Best,
Bernie
