Replacement Baseplate/Tripod mount help

I need some help locating a replacement tripod mount for my DVX. I was filming some action sports and my tripod got struck and my camera pretty much stayed in my hand while the tripod went the other way. The aluminum tripod mount on the bottom of the camera broke off and now I'm looking for a solution. I did some research and saw that at one time a member was making a complete aluminum baseplate that would cover the bottom of the camera and had a reinforced mount welded to it. I emailed him but have heard nothing. I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if there are any other solutions. I don't really want to send it to Panasonic as I can only imagine what they might charge me. Thanks,

Kyle.

I ordered one of those tripod mounts a few years ago and it was well worth it...since i no longer see them in the marketplace, you may have to do this yourself. I would recommend going to a local metal fabrication business and possibly have them do it for ya. I'd take the plastic base cover, tell them you need an Aluminum replica, then have them tap out an aluminum block, tack weld to plate, and you've got yourself a new , stronger plate. If Ulisses does not reply, this thread has everything you'll need:

good luck

Thanks for the reply, I haven't received an answer yet from Ulisses so I think that I'm going to have to go after a metal shop like you said to make me one. Appreciate the help!
