Hello,
I'm using a Canon 5D Mark IV, with 24-105mm lens on a Ronin-S gimbal. It works quite well.
However, I had the misfortune of dropping the ¼-20 screw that comes with the DJI Ronin-S into a deep thicket of weeds while filming outdoors, when unscrewing my Canon 5D Mark IV off the mounting plate. Manfrotto quick release plates have a rubber bung that stops screws being accidentally dropped, DJI doesn’t seem to have one included with their plate.
The ¼-20 screws that DJI uses appears to be of a different size than what I would consider “standard” sizing. They appear to be slimmer than what I’ve encountered with Manfrotto screws.
I tried using a ¼-20 screw that comes with Manfrotto products and I could not secure my camera to the mounting plate securely. The camera spins and does not securely lock to the plate.
Navigating DJI’s website, as well as B&H, it appears there are different ¼-20 screws for each variant of Ronin. I see them labelled for Ronin-M, MX and just Ronin, but nothing listed for Ronin-S. Anybody know if the other Ronin screws are cross compatible?
As well, rebalancing the camera each time takes time. Has a consensus been reached on an optimal quick release plate to mount onto the Ronin-S mounting plate?
I’ve seen Arca Swiss and the Manfrotto 323 brought up a few times. I tried a Manfrotto 394 but it was too big and heavy when used with the 5D mark IV and 24-105mm lens.
