Hey all,

New to posting on DVX but I've learned so much (and still am) from this site, it's not even funny.

I'm working on a feature, "Repetition of Change", due out in April - and I'm just curious to see what people think of it's concept.

Check out the website and click synopsis -

Please feel free to provide any and all feedback and critique. I'm getting 1500+ hits a month on the site and I'm interested in seeing how many of these people actually say "this is a movie I'd see" or "next!"

Also - a link to some rehearsal stills.

Based on the synopsis… I probably would not. But I think approaching the synopsis from a character-driven point of view would help. Corporations aren't particularly interesting characters, so what is it that your protagonist wants? What is getting in the way of he/she getting what they want? Start with that.

My two cents.

I'll take a quick stab...

Interesting concept, but two things of note.

1. I expected to see a teaser or trailer on the site for a feature movie due out in less than 3 months.

2. The ad work looks more like a romance movie than anything else. Not sure how it relates.

3. Seems like an interesting story. The idea of using parents as guinea pigs really is a nice twist.

Not generally my type of movie, but I wish you all the luck in the world with it.

The corporate exec's role is minute in comparison to the two patients whose lives become distraught due to the illegal distribution of these antidepressants. It's kind of explained in the synopsis' third paragraph.

Yeah, I get that, I'm just saying that, for my money, the struggle/relationship between those characters should be front and center. It just feels like it takes to long to get to what sounds like the most important aspect of your film.

you're absolutely right, I just went back and read the synopsis. The story does primarily focus on the patients but I got a little lost in the movie's complexity and could've worded the synopsis better.

Thanks man

Nice clips. It seems you have a vertical hold problem though. That should be easily fixed.

But seriously, it's interesting, and I'm intrigued to see more, but I think you should change the dates on them. I assume this is meant for a viral marketing campaign and I think it would be an intriguing campaign, but anyone that comes across it, wont buy it, due to the dates, and I think you should lose the web link - for now. Build a "what the F*ck is this?" juggernaut, THEN give the web address later. Let people wonder what the F is going on before you let them know it's your silly film. Blair Witch worked because they pushed the MYTH, not the FILM.

sounds good - I thought about losing the web link but at my level, I can't afford to not have people checking out the site and getting more information, you know?

The dates have a lot to play with the story and can't be changed. They tie into the characters myspace pages as well.

the vertical hold jitter was intentionally done in Vegas. I'm not that bad, lol.

Thanks for the feedback - greatly appreciated

First, I was joking about the vertical hold.

...but at my level, I can't afford to not have people checking out the site and getting more information, you know?

At your level you cant afford to not present the best presentation you can. The Blair Witch guys were at your level when they executed their campaign.

I guarantee you that if I came across that clip, with the website at the end, I would dismiss the whole thing as lame. You need to make people think it's real. What you need is so much publicity about your F*ed up meds that they want to start a movement to sue your pharmaceutical company. THAT'S what you need. Not to promote your website.

Then, I'm sorry to say, once they get to the website they are faced with an amatuer presentation. Your cast photo screams "student film" and that is cause for it to be ignored. I really think ALOT of mystery will do the project good. I think what you end up showing will remove all desire to look further. Your teaser clips intrigues me. I have no desire to watch after seeing the website.

Stick with the dates if you want, but then it just makes it obvious it's film promotion. That may be your intent, but people will begin to tire fast of this blatant viral marketing. You 've got to slip underneath.

Anyway, I know some things might sound harsh, but I wouldnt even bother if I didnt think you have something.

Okay - so aside from getting a new cast photo I'm going to wait the week out and see what the traffic is like. I do want to make it believable but I didn't think I would suceed. If what you're telling me is that I "may have something", then I shall pursue perfection and meet with my editor to remove the web link.

I do want to make it believable but I didn't think I would suceed.

From what you have, I dont think it looks that real. But without the link, it would at least be mysterious.

Just some things to think about. Also, I have spent alot of time thinking about the whole viral marketing concept and have implemented one of my own. It has actually worked well enough that I've changed my name on here because people were starting to do some pretty deep internet searching, and retardedly, that searching would lead them directly to these forums. Oops. It's a live and learn thing, but when I started, I didnt expect great results. It's actually a growing snowball.

anyone looking to setup a cross promo via the internet?
I got a few banners I'd be willing to exchange, our sites doing 2500+ hits a month. I have space for a 550x90 banner on every page, inlcuding home. Home for home placement preferred.
