My DVX took an unintended one-way trip to terra firma today. Fortunately, it was snow, and the damage was localized to the XLR input section. I had a mic plugged in at the time, and the XLR cable broke the chassis around the #2 input, and forced the XLR jack slightly into the body. I could deal with this--sort of--but now there's no audio coming in on either input #1 or #2. This is to be expected, considering the blunt force trauma experience by the DVX. While I'm about 99% sure this is repair that's going to cost some bucks, as there's probably some busted PCB behind those jacks, I'm holding out hope that maybe it's just a matter of a disconnected cable header.
So, two questions:
1) Has anyone found a good way to remove the chassis in that section to reveal the inner workings?
2) Has anyone performed a similar stunt, gone the professional repair route, and have a rough cost on what repairs will run?
And, as an aside, I'm bummed...
