Thoughts on appropriate pricing?

I live in the Troy/Montgomery, Alabama area, and a gentleman has asked to rent out the camera for a commercial. Wondering if anyone has any history on pricing these deals out, and also what other things might be appropriate (renting someone to go with it to watch for the camera, contract info, etc).

Look on-line for places that already rent them.

Chances are you don't take credit cards, so how are you going to get security if they don't return it or it comes back damaged?
 
Well, I know the guy, so I'm not worried about it disappearing per se, but in the event it comes back horribly damaged, well, that's what the contract part would be for.

After following the "look for places that already do it" advice (should have thought of that before, sorry) it seems 100/day seems to be in the ballpark.

Now, as also mentioned, how to ensure responsibility of the hardware...

I don't think he's married... but that's a fantastic point. Nothing wrong with a little indentured servitude...
 
Another thing to think about with renting your gear, if something comes back smashed (say a battery) , do you charge the full $150 it will cost to replace it, or $100 because it's been used a few months?

I can afford the loss of a few things here & there in my 'B' kit, but my 'A' kit is my bread and butter, I couldn't take the chance on buying used gear for it.
