FS7: Renting an FS7 and q's about setting up for a smooth import to FCPX

I'm new to the FS7. Never worked with footage from it before. This weekend, I'm shooting 2K. I'll try a variety of frame rates. Very excited to see how it looks.

My question is about file formats and importing to FCPX 10.2.2

I've read different reports about needing an app to convert the footage from XAVC to ProRes. Is that still necessary before going into FCPX?

Is there a current sticky note or white paper that outlines the most important things to consider and do? I don't want to blow it!!

Thanks for any references or step-by-step notes.

There's no need to convert to ProRes FCPX will import straight off the card or from a Camera Archive.

just for the record:
don't import single files via finder. It does not work in XAVC-L and it's not recommended at all

As Nirv said: always import via import window in FCXP straight from the card or from a Camera Archive
I'd suggest to create a Camera Archive (ctrl click) as backup too

You don't need to check optimized media at the import dialog with XAVC-I. XAVC-I works flawless in FCPX

Just to warn you so you don't waste time looking for it, the camera doesn't do 2K (unless Sony added it in this week's firmware update that I have not looked at yet).
HD, 4K UHD, and 4K DCI are your choices. Also, if you rent the XDCA extension unit you can shoot ProRes internally if you want to.
