Renting a HMC151 soon, any tips

Does anyone have any tips on using the camera?

I will be shooting a music video in fairly dark - twilight - lighting.

Is there anything i should look out for?
 
Get Barry Green's handbook (and suppose you can sell it when your done)

Dark lighting is the hardest situation for any cam to do a good job, I would recommend adding some light if you can...
 
I'd also be renting a 3 point lighting system and i know that will help :)

I cant find anywhere to buy barrys book in the UK. =/

You won't find it in stores. You need to order it direct - it's what we've all done :)

If you are shooting in low light don't assume that the default F1 scene setting is the best. Be prepared to plug the camera in to an HDMI monitor and play with sharpening and coring (reduce sharpening and increase coring) to get rid of excessive noise. Sometimes you need it - sometimes you don't.

Yep, also can lower the master ped a notch or 2 to crush blacks and lower the noise (if any).
 
Just wait for the huge thread in the morning when i have the camera and trying to find everything. lol

Are there beter cameras out there for low light shooting?

Sure - how much money do you have to spend? There are some really nice cameras with 2/3" sensors in the $10K upwards range :)
 
Well it's a single shoot and there's no doubt I'll be renting.

Camera rental cost to be no more than £100.

I would say the HMC is as good or better than anything else in that price range. Where are you renting an HMC in the UK?
