rendering out AVCHD

So my Panasonic Plasma will play native AVCHD but for the life of me I cannot find an AVCHD preset in Premiere CS5.

Is there one?

If not what are the settings?

I tried h.264 with a 24Mbit/s max and the monitor couldn't recognize the file from an SDHC card.

There absolutely is one. (on my PCs anyway)

They are in the AVCHD Folder below the AVC Intra Folder.

not on mine. Just AVC/I and DVCPROHD. What "Format" are you selecting???

EDIT: since I am editing in AVCHD I clicked "match sequence settings" at the top. Perhaps that will work?

I use presetrs from the AVCHD Folder. They are all there but I also have a custom one for my own purposes built fromthe presets.

FYI: If you drag an avchd (mts) file to the NEW Item Icon at the bootom of the Project Window..it will open a sequence appropriately matched.

Rename it once it does so the sequence is not named as per the clip.

It is still better to use the Preset and I am puzzled why you do not have the option.

Its been there since CS4 ( and maybe CS3)

Shooter, it has AVCHD as a choice for a new project but I would like to render AVCHD. That is my problem here.

There seems to be no preset for AVCHD in the FILE>EXPORT>Media... "Export Settings" dialog box.

Right under "Export Settings" there is a check box which says: "Match Sequence Settings" which may work.???

Sorry. I get it.

I dont think you can export to a Camera Codec such as AVCHD.

Why do you need to do so. You already have it as AVCHD

No worries. Understandable misunderstanding...

Would like to output ACVHD because it is a viewing codec for Panasonic Plasmas (and many others as well).

Understood that it is in AVCHD but after editing I would like to render out the entire sequence as a new AVCHD file, put it on an SDHC card and then into a Panasonic Plasma for viewing...

I think those TVs can play it so that consumers can play it direct from their cameras.

I suspect this is also maybe something to do with a previous post of yours regarding HQ playback to clients?

You may find a Media Player that can function from file based media but it wont be AVCHD if you have edited it in an NLE

Yep and yep. I think that's why those TVs can play it but wouldn't it make sense to be able to render out footage so the TVs can play edited footage as well as scene files?

It is for one of the presentations. Short of buying an external media player like the Western Digital Medial Player http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.aspx?id=330) that someone mentioned in that thread there seems like there should be a way within Premiere.

UPDATE: I found this thread on Videohelp.com.

There are three programs that will render AVCHD and also an interesting idea (which I need to try) about creating a blu-ray quality DVDr disk to be played on Blu-ray players.

Good find for the AVCHD. But as for the Blu-ray quality DVD, isn't he saying it won't work at Blu-ray data rates?

Is it possible to author a blu-ray quality (35 Mbit/s h.264) DVD via a DVD burner to play on blu-ray players? Will this work?

Not at that bitrate. AVCHD would work, but the bitrate limits are lower.

It's because, unless the player's drive can spin (and read) DVD's at faster than 1x (the normal speed for DVD-Video), DVD's won't be able to put out more than ~11Mbps.
