Render times?

Just got my DVX200 after my HMC150 died a horrible death. :( LOVE the camera so far, the video looks great!

My edit system (Win10, Corei7 940@3GHz, 12GB Ram using PP) is getting a little long in the tooth but it can edit 4k in the tests that I've tried, the problem is the render times are l o n g, much longer than I anticipated. So, I probably will have to upgrade my machine now as well. My question is how long does it take for you to render a 1 minute clip with no grading, etc? Mind doing a test? And what machine, proc and software?
I appreciate anyone that would like to chime in.

Thanks!
Curtis

I shoot all 4K, I have a Win 7-Pro-64, Core i7 running 4Ghtz. 64gigs of ram, EVGA Graphics Card, Geforce GTX-970 4 gigs of ram. My DVX200 4Kfiles (UHD), with light color grading, (Using Premiere-Pro CC 2016) render out in almost real-time. You did not mention what graphics card you are using. This can make a difference, You may need to just add faster and more ram, and upgrade your Graphics Card to what you can afford. Premiere Pro uses the graphics card, and Cuda technology. Adobe has a list of what GCards are compatible with PPro.

EDIT: I stand corrected. I just tested a 30 second clip of UHD 4K down converted to 1080P HD. It took 1-Minute and 25 Seconds.

I'm running win10 64 pro, core i7 also with a GTX-970. 32 gigs of ram and two 512gb SSD are handling the mp4 files well. I'm able to edit in realtime.

OK, Thanks guys. I need to update my machine. I didn't think I had this one THAT long. If you're getting near realtime renders, that sounds good. Thanks

Hey Guys,
Looks like it's time to invest in a new machine, looking at procs, saw in another thread that a few are using the 6700K... is that still the best bang for the buck or should I be looking at something else? Thinking of pairing it with a nVidia 1070, 32 Gig Ram, Win10 and Adobe suite. Any thoughts? Appreciate it.

I use W10pro with a i7-6700K, 32GB RAM, and a GTX285. Yes, the graphic card is not the newest, but doing well. As far as I know CUDA works only during your creating work on the timeline. If you render out in what format ever, the GPU usage is only on about 15% (you can check it with a GPU meter), but CPU cores are at 95 to 100%. So the render difference with or without CUDA is small. I have crosschecked with other machines. And result is more or less same. Why sould I invest in a M2000 (as an example), if my old card runs with only 15%???
And yes, the 6700K is (at the moment) the best bang for the buck...

Hey Folks! Thought I would give an update, I just built a new machine(finally)... only waiting on a replacement SSD and I'll be fully up and running. Everything tested and working great. I went with Win10 64, Asus X99 A II MB, i7-6900K, 32 G 3200 DDR4, nVidia GTX 1070, 3 SSDs and 4TB Raid0 for video files. Super excited about putting it through it's paces. Once everything is tweaked, I'll post some render times!

Thanks again for all of the feedback!

One minute clip in Premiere Pro took just over a minute to render at best setting. Footage consisted of background video with long dissolve with 2 Pip on top. No effects or grading. Second render straight video at max render quality, just barely under a minute. I can live with that.

Thanks all for the help.
