Renaming clips (Mac)

Is there an east way to rename one's clips within the (absurd) PRIVATE folder before importing them to my editing program (CS5)? I found a great tool for this on the PC side (renamer), but that does not help me.

Thanks. The renamed files, however, still are not recognized by the Media Browser. They can, however, be imported. HOWEVER, all timecode data will be lost when you do this. So if you need discrete timecode, your still SOL.

THIS IS ABSURD!!! I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT PANASONIC WOULD LET THIS SLIP.

I am PLEADING with Panny to fix this. We need firmware now that lets us prefix the clip name with the date.

Why do you have to re name them before bringing them into your edit project?

You can use one of the Description columns in the bin to achieve this. I do this as I log my footage and set up my edit. Fast , simple ,searchable. ( I use copy and paste shortcuts extensively). I also use the Good Take Check box and will do a sort on this.

FWIW . I rename mts files and send them out to a post house on occassion without the folder structure. The T/C and the audio remain intact.
