Removing Lens Hood

I'm can't see where to release the lens hood to get to the lens. I'd like to get a protective filter put on it.

All you need to do is to twist it there is no release.

If the hand screw on the RH side is tight, you have to loosen it before you can twist the hood off.

HPX170 - Twist to the left if looking at the camera from the front.
HVX200 - Loosen the little screw on the hood.

Gotcha. Just didn't want to break it by not knowing. Still, it's a little disturbing placing that much force on the front of the camera.

I wouldn't reccomend it, but this certainly removed the lens hood from one of our HPXs pretty quickly...

i took my 170 lens hood off the day i got it and replaced it with a cheap glass filter (scribbled on with a fat sharpie) as a lenscap then just use a proper mattebox when needed.

IMHO, those factory lenshood/caps are ridiculous. they just add unneeded bulk to the storage requirement...
